Tau Beta Pi Alumni The Greater Columbus Area Alumni Chapter of Tau Beta Pi is proud to invite any TBP alumni to free membership in our chapter with no obligations on your time.
We are all busy engineers with no time for yet another business meeting; email correspondence will keep you informed of opportunities that may be of interest to you, without obliging your time. In addition, there are no dues.
A few of the benefits of membership that we foresee are:
- Access to the most outstanding upper-level engineering students
- A methodology to recognize great engineers in your workplace and community, by recommending them for Tau Beta Pi membership as eminent engineers
- Ohio State football tickets for Ohio State Alumni, if sufficient interest develops
- Helping to improve the Ohio State College of Engineering undergraduate experience
- Interaction with the Ohio State University faculty and community regarding interdisciplinary seminars, funding issues, and cooperation between theoretical and practical engineering applications
- Social activities with other Tau Bata Pi alumni and their family & friends
- Developing an engineering community with the Columbus area
The Ohio Gamma student chapter at Ohio State would like to organize activities to make all of these opportunities available to you with no obligation on your time. The chapter is willing to put forth this effort in the hope that they benefit from:
- Finding speakers for banquets and general meetings
- Social interaction with practicing engineers in the Columbus area
- Finding alumni advisors for the student chapter
- Possible alumni mentoring
If you would like to join the Greater Columbus Area Alumni Chapter, please send your name and preferred email address to tbp@osu.edu with the acronym "GCAAC" in the subject header.
Our next upcoming activity is the 2002 National Tau Beta Pi Convention being hosted in Detroit at the Renaissance Center, October 3-5, 2002. Alumni can register for Convention and participate in meetings, committees, and other developmental activities at the http://www.tbp.org/pages/convention/ website. Of special note at any Convention is the Initiation and Awards Banquet that completes Convention, which is being held Saturday, October 5, at 6:30pm. Member and non-member guests are welcome.
Another exciting opportunity is the Tau Beta Pi AlumNet Program, which pairs student members with alumnus members in graduate programs, academia, and industry to allow for the sharing of information. For more information or to register to help graduating students coming to or beginning to work in the Columbus area, please visit http://dilbert.cen.uiuc.edu/soc/tbp.
Other possible activities for the Alumnus Chapter include:
- Support of the Ohio Gamma Chapter
- Providing speakers for banquets
- Recommend eminent engineer candidates
- Provide a source for alumnus advisors to the student chapter
- Interact with the Ohio State University faculty and community regarding interdisciplinary seminars, funding issues, and cooperation between theoretical and practical engineering applications
